New Arkansas Laws Set to Take Effect Aug. 1: A Summary

Arkansas has introduced hundreds of new laws effective from August 1, impacting areas like children's rights, education, firearms, health, economy, traffic, voting, and more.

• Of note: Notable laws include the Arkansas LEARNS Act, which among other things raises the minimum teacher salary to $50,000 and funds private and religious schools.

• Honorable mention: Other regulations address concealed carry permits, emotional support animals, early voting hours, foreign land ownership, delta 8, 9, and 10, and religious freedom.

Little Rock to Kick Off Art Porter Music Festival with Free Event

Come enjoy and celebrate jazz music, and the legacies of Little Rock natives Art Porter Sr. and Jr., at the kick-off to the 2023 Art Porter Music Education Inc. Music Festival in the City Hall Rotunda on July 31.

• Full of music: With performances from talented locals, a jam session and free admission to the Tuesday and Friday events, its a week-long extravaganza of live music.

• Giveback: Proceeds from the festival go towards the Art Porter Music Education scholarship to help aspiring musicians.
