Arkansas Tourism, a $9.2 Billion Industry, is Getting a New Director
The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism just appointed Dalaney Thomas as their new director of tourism. She brings her nine years of campaign and content strategy experience from CJRW to the promotion of Arkansas’ attractions, outdoor recreation activities, and other tourist offerings.
Worth the hike: The tourism industry brought in almost $9.2 billion, 68,098 jobs, and over $1 billion in tax revenue in 2022, as well as an additional $6.5 billion from supply and induced chain effects.
A great viewpoint: Thomas has the creative and strategic expertise to help Arkansas tourism reach new heights in the national market – quite literally – with its great outdoor offerings.

Events Around Arkansas Show Community Support and Pride
Dozens of new parents in Little Rock attended the Maternal Outcomes Matter Shower event on Sunday, an event hosted by the Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships that seeks to provide expectant and new mothers with necessary resources and support.
Shower love: The event aims to connect new moms with resources, run by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, that they may have been unaware of.
Holding up: With more than 9 in 10 pregnancy related deaths considered to potentially be preventable, this event is an important step in making sure new parents have the support they need.

UAMS Grant Offers Health Care Career Opportunities in Arkansas Delta and South Arkansas
The Arkansas Delta Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Academy, funded by a $3.25 million federal grant, is designed to provide health care career opportunities for 20 underserved counties in Arkansas and the Delta.
Good partners: UAMS, the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership, colleges, universities and high schools, and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will collaborate to provide education and training in a variety of health care disciplines.
Community minded: The goal is to prepare students from these communities to work in the health care field without leaving their homes.

Study Finds Arkansas's Arts and Culture Industry Provides $306.4 Million Boost to State Economy

The arts and culture industry in Arkansas had an impressive economic effect of $306.4 million in 2022, according to a nationwide study from Americans for the Arts.
Big money: Of the total $306.4 million impact, organizations supported 3,225 jobs and generated roughly $33 million in tax revenue.
Leverage: The data provides leverage to justify the nonprofit arts and culture sector's worth to the state government.
