ExxonMobil Announces New Lithium Drilling Project in South Arkansas

Exxon Mobil is starting drilling for lithium in south Arkansas, aiming to produce enough for 1 million electric vehicles by 2030. 

• Utilizing resources: Exxon Mobil is tapping into the vast Smackover formation, using conventional oil and gas drilling methods to access lithium-rich saltwater from reservoirs about 10000 feet underground. 

• Lowering emissions: Exxon Mobil's extraction process is said to produce fewer carbon emissions than traditional hard rock mining methods.
