A-State Promise Plus Offers Free Tuition to Families Under $70,000 in Arkansas

ASU is doing its part to help make college accessible for all with the launch of their A-State Promise Plus scholarship program.

• Cost-free: Families with household incomes of $70,000 and below can take advantage of this "last-dollar" scholarship, which covers any remaining tuition costs not covered by other grants and scholarships after the Arkansas Academic Challenge and Lottery Scholarship are applied.

• Room and board: Qualifying students receive a $2,5000 housing scholarship for their first year to assist with on-campus room and board, with that support increasing for students who remain on campus through their senior year.

The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival is gearing up for its 32nd edition, taking place Oct 6-14.

Certified Pies Takes Flight as Little Rock's Only Black-Owned Pizza Business

Certified Pies, the first and only black-owned pizza business in Little Rock, opened its physical location in West Little Rock on Sep 23 after operating out of a ghost kitchen over the past couple years..

• Pizza pies: Their unique menu features flavor combinations that honor the music they love, like the Smooth Operator with ranch sauce and five cheese blend topped with chicken and bacon crumble.

• Flying high: Their wing game is just as strong, thanks to a collaboration with local business Truth Sauce, and other local favorites like Sarge's Famous Pickles and KB's Love By the Pound will be featured in the pizzeria.

Celebrating Latino-Owned Businesses in Arkansas with the Inaugural Arkansas Latino Business Awards

The first Arkansas Latino Business Awards were presented on Sep 28 at the Clinton Presidential Center. Hosted by the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center, Arkansas Business Navigator and Conexion de Negocios Latinos, the event gave awards to outstanding Latino-owned businesses and Latino small business champions.

• Who won? Juventino Gonzalez' Santiago's Bakery in Glenwood was crowned Small Business of the Year.

• What's new? This is the first year the awards have been presented, and voting was done through the Arkansas Latino Business Awards Facebook page.
