UCA, Conway and Central Flying Service Partner On Aviation Academy to Address Pilot Shortage

The University of Central Arkansas and the city of Conway have teamed up with Central Flying Service of Little Rock to create the new UCA Aviation Academy in an effort to combat the nation's critical pilot shortage. 

  • Career in the skies: Students of the program will get the chance to earn private and commercial aviation licenses, ratings, and certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration. 

  • Getting ready for take-off: Enrollment will open in March 2024 and be open to anyone 17 years or older, and grants and financial aid will be available.

Public Input Meeting Scheduled for Revitalization Plan

Downtown Little Rock is potentially getting a facelift as the city works on a downtown master plan

  • Getting the party started: A second public input meeting is set for Monday, Dec 4 at 6 pm. The planning is funded with federal pandemic relief money, will address fragmented urban fabric and mobility challenges, and a draft plan is expected June 2024. 

  • Changes all around: The Downtown Little Rock Master Plan, a collaborative nine-month project, aims to strategically develop the area, focusing on urban design, transportation, and public spaces.

Pinnacle Mountain State Park to Open New Visitor Center and Loblolly Outpost

Pinnacle Mountain State Park is set to open a new visitor center with a ribbon cutting ceremony today.

  • A monumental launch: Designed by Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects, the new visitor center is meant to reflect the mountain itself and is much closer to where visitors to the park typically pass. 

  • Ready, set, explore!: Inside there will be a concession stand, restrooms, bike racks, interpretive exhibits, seating, and more. The park is open daily 8 am to 5 pm, closed on certain holidays.
