Southern Living magazine is featuring Searcy as one of its "Cutest Christmas Towns" in December 2024, with the publication bringing staff to the city during the annual Holiday of Lights event.
Going places: This marks the first time a Searcy event is featured on a national level, giving organizations and volunteers of the Holiday of Lights a chance to show off their hard work.
Light it up: The city continues to add to its Holiday of Lights with the addition of replicas of Smyrna Church, the Rialto Theater, and the Black House and the possibility of lights being placed on top of downtown buildings.

Study Reveals Most Affordable Cities in the US to Buy a Home
Scholaroo recently surveyed 152 cities across the United States to determine which cities are the most affordable to buy a home in.
Arkansas power: Little Rock and Fort Smith were both deemed two of the most affordable cities in the whole nation, with Fort Smith in 11th place and Little Rock in 13th.
Best of the best: The study took into account median home value, average property taxes, average monthly household income and mortgage payment-to-income ratio, in order to determine the rankings.

Rock N' Roll Sushi Expands to North Little Rock Amid Rapid Growth
Rock N Roll Sushi, the Southeast Asian concept, is growing more quickly than anticipated, and now plans to open their fifth Arkansas location in North Little Rock this winter.
Approachable sushi, rock and roll vibe: Founded in 2010, the Hallmarks made sushi approachable by creating an atmosphere where guests can wear "hats and shorts", and it's been a hit.
Onward and upward: With an anticipated opening of early November or beginning of December, Rock N Roll Sushi's expansion to North Little Rock is just the beginning of their plans with expansion into Northeast Arkansas planned.

Arkansas's First Rural Emergency Hospital Prepares to Receive Federal Funding Incentives
St. Bernards Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas is Arkansas's first rural emergency hospital, set to begin operations on September 1st.
Funding: The hospital will receive Medicare reimbursement rates at 105% for outpatient services, in addition to a "standard monthly facility payment,"
24/7: This comes with the obligation to keep their emergency departments staffed 24/7 with a physician, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, or physician assistant.
