Arkansas Rice Federation Donates 240,000 lbs of Rice to Statewide Food Banks
Arkansas rice growers have donated 240,000 pounds of rice, worth nearly $1 million, to food banks across the state.
Unforgettable partnership: The Arkansas Rice Federation and Arkansas Food Bank have had a longstanding partnership since 1982.
Preserving the economy: The donation comes at a time when food banks are struggling due to the pandemic, inflation, and supply chain issues. The industry produces half the nation's rice, providing 25,000 jobs and a $6 billion impact on the state economy.

DOT to Provide $11.8 Million for Railway Improvements in Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma
The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $11.8 million to improve freight rail lines in Arkansas and Oklahoma, part of President Biden's $1.4 billion investment in rail infrastructure across the nation.
Visible impact: With the funds, the DeQueen and Eastern and Texas, Oklahoma, and Eastern railroads will receive track improvements, bridge rehabilitations, and other upgrades on routes in the Arkansas-Oklahoma area.
Growing investment: This is the largest investment to date in the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program, which supports rail safety and overall supply chain operations.
