Arkansas Tax Revenue Tops Forecasts in First Five Fiscal Months

Little Rock Daily

Arkansas tax revenue for the first five fiscal months (July-November) of the fiscal year was $3.324 billion, down 1.4% compared with the same period in 2022. Still, the state's surplus- net available revenue above forecast- at the end of November was $144.1 million.

  • Surplus: The surplus is largely due to an 8% growth in sales tax collections for the fiscal year that ended in June 2023.

  • Tax categories: To note, income, sales and use taxes, and corporate income taxes all fared better than expected while tobacco, insurance, alcoholic beverages and games of skill were down from the previous year.

AMFA

The Arkansas Museum of Fine Art is showcasing a rare exhibition of works on paper, centered around two major paintings from the Picasso and Braque partnership.

  • Two heavyweights: Fan, Salt Box, Melon (1909) by Picasso and Guitar and Bottle of Marc on a Table (1930) by Braque, are at the center of the exhibition.

  • Cubism comes to life: The paintings are a representation of Cubism, an art movement that fused multiple perspectives and angles into one image, and brought on a wave of creative evolutions around the world.
