Little Rock to Receive Grant for Art to Improve Street Safety
Little Rock was recently awarded a $25,000 Bloomberg Philanthropies grant for one of its art projects to improve street safety. The project aims to install a mural to reduce traffic speeds, improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, and bring more life into the area for the public.
Artistic safety: Bloomberg Philanthropies' Asphalt Art Initiative, of which this project is a part, is proving to be an effective and low-cost way to create safer city streets—their study showed a 50% drop in car crashes involving pedestrians and a 27% increase in drivers yielding to pedestrians.
On the horizon: Project installation is scheduled for 2024, but you can read up on the success and potential of asphalt art HERE.
